Bailey’s Graduation session and 10 Reasons Why You Need a Graduation Shoot as well
1. THIS IS A MILESTONE
It is quite literally the end of an era in your life. And while you probably don’t even want to think about the idea of leaving your classmates and instructors, and moving on to bigger and better things, the truth is that it’s happening. And soon. Capturing these final moments before graduation will leave a lasting memory of all the good times you’ve had and are about to leave behind.
2. YOUR SENIOR PHOTOS ARE YOU
Senior photos used to be a tacky tradition set up by the school where you got all dressed up in the robe and hat they provided you, sat on a swivel stool in front of a blurred backdrop with your toes on the tape, and tried not to wince as the flash blinded you. In fact, the tacky tradition prevails to this day. But senior photos don’t have to be so generic and formal!
Recently, photographers and teens have been working together to create stunning, creative portraits that really demonstrate who the graduate is. You can customize the location, wardrobe, and props to fit with your own interests, future studies, cultural heritage, or favorite things.
3. YOUR FRIENDS ARE DOING IT
I guarantee you’ve seen photos of at least one of your friends from a grad shoot, and you’ve either thought “OOH, I want one!!” or “Wow…I could have such better ideas.” Well, we can do BOTH. Bring ideas from what you’ve seen your friends do, and bring ideas unique to you – the result will be gorgeous photographs of you being YOU that are enough to make your friends jealous!
4. DO IT WITH YOUR BESTIE
Who says you have to do senior pictures alone? Grab your bestie and do a group photo shoot! You’ll be able to capture individual portraits of each of you, plus adorable pictures of you guys acting goofy together as friends! #BFF #BestofBothWorlds
5. YOU’RE IN YOUR PRIME
Let’s face it – once you hit your thirties, your body is rarely as good as it was back in high school or college. The span from this moment until 10 years from now is probably the best window of opportunity for your body being at its healthiest and fittest. Why not capture it?
6. YOUR MOM
You already know this is true – your mom is going to start crying the moment she sees those photographs in her hand of her little baby all grown up and ready to move onto the next stage of life. Just picture the look on her face…just picture it.
7. YOUR NEXT PROFILE PICTURE
We’ve all gotten into that slump at one point or another, where our profile picture is that “one singular good picture of me” from over a year ago. A senior session is the perfect way to get the next perfect profile picture that isn’t just some selfie you took on a good hair day. If you plan it right, you could also wind up with a killer business headshot to use for your LinkedIn profile! (Don’t have an account yet? It’s a fantastic source of networking with professionals in your field!)
8. INSTA
Hey, everyone gets a little confidence boost with a selfie that gets tons of likes on Instagram! A senior shoot will provide you with tons of great pictures of yourself to share for the next year!
9. PERFECT GIFTS
Now, I’m not talking about the graduation cards and gifts that will inevitably pour in right around the end of the school year. Although these are #perks of graduating, graduation is also a time to give back to those who helped you get where you are today. Senior photographs are the perfect thank-you to Mom and Dad or whoever supported you all this way. They also make perfect birthday or holiday gifts for Grandma/Grandpa/aunts/uncles/cousins/etc.!
10. NOW IS THE TIME
With this being such an end of an era, moving into your next stage of life, there’s no guarantee of the next time you’ll be able to get professional portraits of yourself taken. As an adult, there’s rarely the perfect opportunity to get nice pictures taken! Take the opportunity now to get updated photos to use for years to come – trust me, they’ll last long enough through the first couple years of your first job. Then, update as need be!
